of Reference Standing Committee on International
Committees:
1. Function of the CIC
The Committee
a) advises the Executive Council on matters concerning International Committees, especially the establishment of new International Committees and possible dissolutions.
b) offers support and advice to International Committees.
c) identifies issues and promotes initiatives for the advancement of ICOM's work through the International Committees.
d) Conducts evaluations of each International Committee at least once every six years or at such time as may be deemed necessary, to determine the Committee’s conformity with the Rules for International Committees and the relevance of the Committee's activities to ICOM’s mission, core values, and programs.
e) maintains an overview of the thematically based Affiliated Organizations and fosters collaboration among International Committees and Affiliated Organizations.
2. Composition of the CIC
The Committee is normally composed of nine persons appointed by the Executive Council. Two of the members shall be from the Executive Council and two will be selected on the recommendation of the Advisory Committee.
3. Requirements for serving on the CIC
a) Evaluation of International Committees is a primary task of the CIC, therefore, no member of the CIC shall be a current chairperson or board member of an International Committee.
b) The chairperson of the CIC shall be a person who has been chairperson of an International Committee.
c) The majority of the ordinary members shall be persons who have been chairpersons or board members of International committees.
d) One member shall have been chairperson or served on the board of an ICOM recognized Affiliated Organization.
e) One member shall be or have been chairperson or board member of a National Committee.
