History
of ICOM
By
Sid Ahmed Baghli, Patrick Boylan, Yani Herreman
Published on the occasion on the 18th General Conference
in Melbourne the History of ICOM (1946-1996) was launched
with great success.
A tribute to all those who have given their best to promote,
defend and above all make museums popular places, this souvenir
album recalls the eventful and fascinating journey during
which the International Council of Museums has carried the
torch for the museum profession the world over. From a small
grain of sand ICOM has grown over fifty years of activity
into a worldwide organisation with 15,000 members. Three
eminent experts from different academic backgrounds and
cultures give an analytical account of this extraordinary
development.
